Directly from Rome we bring you Profumum Roma, a family owned niche perfume brand that make their scent in oil base. The story begins with Celestino and Lucia Durante who after the Second World War decided to move from a small town called Sant’Elena Sannita to Rome. Coming from a family with a long artisan tradition, they used their skills to open a tiny storefront selling interesting fragrances, hand made soaps and other beauty products. From these humble beginnings the business grew into a chain of shops that quickly became a reference point for luxury personal care in the city.
The skill and craftsmanship were passed on through the generations of the Durante family and in 1996 Celestino and Lucia’s grandchildren expanded the business by creating a line of exclusive fragrances. The Profumum Roma scents are exquisitely crafted to evoke the emotions and memories of their beloved Italy. Inspiration has come from an eclectic mix of Italian motifs including stories of Rome, iconic vacation islands and even a delicious local pastry shop. The resultant scents though seductively layered, are wonderfully simple at heart.

When I launched my brand in 2007, my goal was to put perfumery back on its pedestal and return it to its former glory, the way perfumery existed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
For me, perfume is the essential accessory of every man and woman. Each fragrance that I make is imagined and created as the ultimate way to express oneself and all the facets of our unique personalities‘ – Kilian Hennessy
Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.
Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels.

Marc-Antoine Barrois is a French couturier born from a northern French family who had made name for themselves in the textile industry. From a very early age he was fascinated by his grandfather’s elegance that drove him to seek the art of simple luxury without ostentation but assuredly with finesse. After learning patterns, cutting and sewing as he was studying textile engineering, he designed his first collection in Lille in 2006. This success then led Marc-Antoine Barrois to work with Dominique Sirop, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Jean-Claude Jitrois before creating his own Maison de Couture for men. Offering men what women have already in Haute Couture, Marc-Antoine Barrois designs unique suits, tuxedos and jackets for confidential clients seeking exclusivity. The first MARC-ANTOINE BARROIS boutique opened in 2013 on rue de Budapest in Paris and offers Parisian crafted collections of jewels and accessories alongside his bespoke clothing. Aurélien Guichard comes from a line of seven generations of perfumers. He perpetuated this family know how by becoming a perfumer at an early age and recently took over a business of rose grower in Grasse.

He consider perfumery as a way of life, where sense of observation, sensitivity to other and generosity are the qualities of the perfumer. His inspiration comes mainly from the exchanges with the people he meets.
Aurélien Guichard is the son of the famed perfumer Jean Guichard who is the director of the Givaudan Perfumery school and an incredibly accomplished master perfumer who grew up in Grasse, where his father grew glowers for the perfume industry. Following in his fathers footsteps he has created some of the most coveted fragrances for the houses of Guerlain, Tom Ford, Narciso Rodriguez, Gucci, Nina Ricci, Comme de Garcons, to name a few.

Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.
Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels

Egypt is one of the most exclusive fragrances created by Albert Fouquet. In 1935, Albert decided to fulfil a promise made to visit Ahmed, a childhood friend, and accomplish one of his dreams at the same time. Albert was fascinated by ancient Egyptian culture and while visiting his friend in Egypt he could enjoy lengthy tours of the Great Pyramid of Giza, as well as the temples of Luxor and Hatshepsut.
For Albert Fouquet, the visit was also an opportunity to travel to the birthplace of perfume. He wanted to research the essences that have been in use for thousands of years. He was also curious to discover what was in those extraordinarily aromatic jars offered to the gods to protect the pharaohs, or in the scents used to satisfy the revered Cleopatra. This wonderful visit was enriched from the moment Albert passed through the doorway approaching Ahmed’s home. The impressive garden of his villa contained dozens of flowers that were unknown to Albert.
Albert was overwhelmed by new sensations and when he was unable to extend his already lengthy visit, he planned a second trip four months later with the express intention of finding a unique perfume.
After several weeks of intense work in the villa of Ahmed, Albert Fouquet selected the final details of a new formula after returning to his chateau in Paris. Egypt became part of his exclusive and private perfume collection. It is such a pleasure to share the originality of the best perfumes created by Albert Fouquet and ensure they reach the hands of those fortunate enough to share his lifestyle.

The Eight & Bob Original eau de toilette has a fresh, citrus scent with top notes of pine cone to begin with, followed by a dry wood, vanilla base notes. This sophisticated fragrance is made using extracts of the ‘Andrea’ plant, a wild plant, found in South America, but which is in short supply, due to the very exacting climate conditions required for it to grow. There are, therefore, a limited amount of Eight & Bob perfumes produced every year.

Fouquet left a fragrance sample at JFK's hotel with a note that said, "In this jar, you will find the dash of French glamour that your American personality lacks." Upon his return to the US, JFK made a request for eight bottles of scent – ‘and if your production allows, one for Bob’.

The story begins with Celestino and Lucia Durante who after the Second World War decided to move from a small town called Sant’Elena Sannita to Rome. In collaboration with Quentin Bisch, Marc-Antoine has dreamt of the essence of this new planet: an elegant unexpected harmony around a quartet of mandarin, violet, immortelle and suede.
Ganymede once again makes use of the suede-leathery notes that made their first collaboration B683 an instant classic. This time though the leather notes become softer, gaining lightness and gentleness in contact with the fragrance of violet. Mandarin still brings intense brightness and vivacity, yet immortelle adds sublime balance, using salty and mineralic tones to act as a striking counterpoint. It's 10 a.m. and the owner opens the door, letting in the light, splashing against the oak panelling, and enters his store, the wooden floor creaking beneath his footsteps. He spends his days here, surrounded by carefully organised shelves, listing in his mind all the forgotten works just waiting to be rediscovered. Every day, he greets his customers with a subtle smile, a choice word, a tailor-made recommendation, and takes pleasure in unearthing the perfect book for each visitor: the latest Prix Goncourt he has just received for the neighbour at n°8, Joseph Kessel's travel stories for the explorer passing through...
It's 7 p.m., and a tall, slender, impeccably dressed man enters, wearing a long black coat whose fabric seems to absorb the subdued light of the place, and from which a singular perfume emanates that calls out to the bookseller. The exhalation awakens memories in him, like a familiar melody one recognises without being able to name. Fresh, spicy accords interwoven with woody notes. Discreet yet memorable, this fragrance gradually fills the cozy atmosphere of the bookshop, blending scents of waxed wood with refreshing lemon notes.
The man says nothing. He simply browses the shelves, his fingers gliding over the edges of the books. He grabs a book, an early edition of Pierre Reverdy's "Plupart du Temps", and heads for the counter.
With the volume in his hands, he flips through the pages, letting his mind soak up the familiar scent of old paper, now linked to the refined imprint of his own perfume. This unexpected alliance lends the moment a special charm, a unique sensory memory... The mysterious elegant man then explains the chance of his arrival, the light of the store and the beauty of the books that caught his eye. The merchant nods gently, a smile lighting up his face. The book acquired, the enigmatic Monsieur slipped it into his pocket and then, like a shadow, vanished into the night, under the light rain, leaving behind only the trail of his mysterious perfume.

Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.
Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels

Directly from Rome we bring you Profumum Roma, a family owned niche perfume brand that make their scent in oil base. The story begins with Celestino and Lucia Durante who after the Second World War decided to move from a small town called Sant’Elena Sannita to Rome. Directly from Rome we bring you Profumum Roma, a family owned niche perfume brand that make their scent in oil base. The story begins with Celestino and Lucia Durante who after the Second World War decided to move from a small town called Sant’Elena Sannita to Rome. Coming from a family with a long artisan tradition, they used their skills to open a tiny storefront selling interesting fragrances, hand made soaps and other beauty products. From these humble beginnings the business grew into a chain of shops that quickly became a reference point for luxury personal care in the city.
The skill and craftsmanship were passed on through the generations of the Durante family and in 1996 Celestino and Lucia’s grandchildren expanded the business by creating a line of exclusive fragrances. The Profumum Roma scents are exquisitely crafted to evoke the emotions and memories of their beloved Italy. Inspiration has come from an eclectic mix of Italian motifs including stories of Rome, iconic vacation islands and even a delicious local pastry shop. The resultant scents though seductively layered, are wonderfully simple at heart.

Simply named TRUDON, the new perfume line still claims references to religion, royalty and revolution. And yet breaks free from them. Three highly praised perfumers – Lyn Harris, Antoine Lie and Yann Vasnier – infuse the Trudon 1643 collection with rich historical notes that are meaningful today. They composed five contemporary chapters: in each one, noble, natural ingredients take centre stage. Neither feminine nor masculine, the perfumes contain an olfactory complexity that hints at a character rather than a gender.
It is part of Trudon’s ethos to collaborate with different talents, promote creative freedom and showcase different expertise. Handpicking three perfumers was therefore a deliberate choice and despite each perfumer’s singular approach, a strong statement runs through this first collection of Trudon 1643. Individually given a brief, each nose was taken to a Parisian landmark; chosen for its evocative meaning; each venue catalysed singular ideas and sources of inspiration

When I launched my brand in 2007, my goal was to put perfumery back on its pedestal and return it to its former glory, the way perfumery existed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods. Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels.
In 2007, Kilian launched his own namesake brand with the ambition of reflecting not only his distinct personality, but also to achieve a perfect alliance between elegance and uncompromising luxury. His “eco-luxe” philosophy that each bottle can be refilled and kept for a lifetime catapulted the brand to the top of the fragrance market and into a niche of its very own.
