‘The Liquors Collection’
50ml refillable eau de Parfum
Olfactive Family – Aromatic
Perfume Author – Mathieu Nardin
Absinthe essence opens L’Heure Verte with an instant head twist into a nostalgic heart of violet leaf and licorice root absolute. Its dry-down articulates a unique and precisely chosen facet of patchouli that resonates throughout, and blends into a trio of earthy woods along with vetiver and sandalwood. L’Heure Verte expresses Paris at its best—indulgent and life-changing in its luxuries and wonderful illusions.Inspired by the city of Paris, Kilian introduces its newest addition to the Liquors olfactive family L’Heure Verte, an olfactive soundtrack to nightlife’s liberation to come. L’Heure Verte is named after the traditional French equivalent of ‘Happy Hour’, that early evening window of time when absinthe was served upon sugar into a glass. The liquid turns pastel green; this hue reappears in L’Heure Verte’s own perfume elixir, an entirely naturally derived colour: tender like a Parisian haze, or a Van Gogh painting come to life.
Head Notes – Absinthe, Cypress
Heart Notes – Violet Leaf, Liquorice Root
Base Notes – Patchouli, Vetiver
The bottle of the perfumes of ‘The Liquors’ collection is styled as a speakeasy essential, like an art deco glass to recall the most fabulous bars. The weighted glass is engraved with the emblematic K motif to throw and catch light at all angles, finished with a golden, diamond-shaped plaque signed in white serigraphy. These details bring to the Kilian Paris creation a guarantee of luxury, that should not be ephemeral, but should last a lifetime. As such this perfume is refillable.
When I launched my brand in 2007, my goal was to put perfumery back on its pedestal and return it to its former glory, the way perfumery existed in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
For me, perfume is the essential accessory of every man and woman. Each fragrance that I make is imagined and created as the ultimate way to express oneself and all the facets of our unique personalities‘ – Kilian Hennessy
Heir to a long line of cognac makers who were pioneers in luxury, Kilian decided to take up the torch of family tradition. Creating a new luxury brand was definitely a challenge worthy of his predecessors.
His childhood haunts included the family cellars in Cognac. Before graduating from CELSA, he wrote a thesis on the semantics of scent, in search of a ‘language’ common to gods and mortals. Remembering the “angels’ share” as part of his heritage, he was led into the world of perfumery. The “angels’ share” is what the House of Hennessy calls the percentage that – inexplicably – evaporates from cognac cellars, like an offering to the gods.
Many of Kilian’s fragrances today carry this childhood memory as they are reminiscent of the sugar in the alcohol and the wood of the cognac barrels.
