Commune de Paris Cologne 150ml by Astier de Villatte
Olfactive Family – Aromatic | Citrus
Cologne designed by Françoise Caron and the Takasago perfume team
For Commune de Paris – the rebellious and edgy label created by three Parisian creators of fashion and product design – Astier de Villatte and Françoise Caron have imagined Cologne 1871, a revolutionary Eau de Cologne.
At first, Commune de Paris Cologne opens with an explosion of Sicilian lemons along with rosemary and bergamot. But underneath this acidic and aromatic exterior, Cologne 1871 hides the ineffable charm of the powdery scents characteristic of its time. Suave labdanum, benzoin, cedarwood and patchouli are combined with the first two synthetic molecules ever created by man – coumarin that smells like cut grass, and benzalehide that smells like almonds – making it a most unique and comforting scent.
Contains Essences of Italian Lemon, Rosemary, Bergamot, Pink Pepper Extract, Lavender Absolute, Labdanum, Benzoin, Patchouli, Vetiver, Cedar Wood, “Benzaldehyde” discovered in 1803 by French pharmacist Martrès, “Coumarin” was first isolated from tonka beans in 1820 by A. Vogel of Munich. (Coumarin has been an integral part of the fougère genre of perfume since it was first used in Houbigant’s Fougère Royale in 1882)
Designers of furniture and white ceramics Ivan Pericoli and Benoît founded their company Astier de Villatte in 1996 in association with friends and family. Successor to the Parisian manufactures of the 18th century, satire de village is now the only major studio to keep the tradition of artisanal ceramic production in Paris alive. In 2000, they opened the boutique at 173 rue Saint Honoré, which also presented their other creations for the home: titanium cutlery, borosilicate glassware and above all the wonderful collection of traditionally printed notebooks.
In 2008 they decided to join forces with Japanese fragrance company Takasago and together begin creating luxury scented products. Working with their associates Emilie Massed and Françoise Caron, the star perfumer at Takasago fragrance Astier de Villatte’s range of scented products was born.
